Life's a beach: The Nokia 6700 coming to Three UK?

by Martyn Davies on 17th June 2009

I was passing the “3″ offices in Maidenhead today and it appears Nokia are bringing the beach to the “3″ driveway.

The board is advertising the Nokia 6700, and the van is all about keeping in touch with social networks while you’re away on holiday. It’s a shame there was no-one serving ice creams; I had my 50p ready and everything.

Ben says: Although the beach in Maidenhead looks, um, ‘odd’, I think there’s a story in this… The 6700 is due to become available from Nokia in June – a promising looking non-smartphone (S4o for the spotters) handset with 5MP camera, GPS and HSDPA / HSUPA – and I’m not aware Three UK have publicly annouced they’ll be carrying it yet… it’s certainly been exciting a few people.  I wonder if the social network stuff means they’ll be doing something more than just cutting romaing data to the new EU-imposed levels… perhaps to compete with Vodafone’s no-cost roaming promotion…?

..and yet their press site doesn’t have any mention of it.

Well, they’ll be flogging it with a seaside theme :-)

I just bought a Nokia 6700 and i find difficulty in accessing contacts. I mean the 3rd or 4th alphabet is difficult to access – like if i want `S’ then p q and r get registered and i have a hard time getting to `S’ is there a fault of the keyboard of N6700 for otherwise it is a great phone but what’s the point if i can’t access contacts quickly? should i return the phone or is it an individual instrument defect? Pl tell me fast – an ardent request.Awaiting

Sounds like a handset defect… get it replaced. Not used a 6700, but Nokia’s build quality is normally sound.
