The N900: just a Qik note

by James Whatley 27th January 2010

Last weekend I visited London’s Natural History Museum (the NHM) to take part in a secret filming mission for a new and yet-to-be-made feature film. With an N86 in one pocket and an N900 in the other I set out, intent on recording the action… as it happened.
As it happened, the shoot was so intense [...]

Video: N900 running Android [Deep Joy]

by Ben Smith 23rd January 2010

YouTube user ‘bdogg64‘ Brandon Roberts has posted this first (as far as  I know) footage of an N900 being hacked to dual boot Maemo and Android.  The Android install is far from usable yet, but it works…
Perhaps I will – one day – be able to satisfy my love for Android and my desire for [...]

How much does an N900 cost? Nokia don’t know…

by Ben Smith 4th December 2009

“How much for an N900?”, a friend asks.  Hmmm… I’m not sure. I got a discount code when ordering mine, but otherwise it was always £499 in the Nokia online store.
I’ll just check Google…

Oh wow! A sponsored search listing right at the top of the page! It looks like they’ve discounted it £50 now it’s [...]

N900: A Gallery

by James Whatley 16th November 2009

Hopefully by now you’ve all read Dan Lane’s Really Mobile N900 opinion piece from last week (based on the development unit he ‘borrowed’ from Ewan Macleod), and, while we all sit around with baited breath (read: twiddling our thumbs) waiting for the actual release date, November 19th I managed to lay my hands on a [...]

There was a new revision of the iPhone in the iPhone 3GS, Android has continued it’s slow plodding march to world domination and there was that [...]

VoIP on the Nokia N900

by Dan Lane 29th October 2009
Thumbnail image for VoIP on the Nokia N900

We take a look at some of the VoIP calling features built-in to the Nokia N900. We used a WiFi connection in this video but it also works over 3G and 3.5G (sadly it’s a poor experience on anything less than 3G).
This feature was brought to you in association with VoIP.co.uk. If you want to [...]

Looking at the Nokia Booklet 3G with an N900

by Ben Smith 18th September 2009

In a break away from filming (well, real actors were doing the filming… I was just an extra) a set of new viral videos for Nokia in Budapest, I snagged an N900 and a Booklet 3G and tried to answer two questions in one go:  What’s the N900’s video like and how does the Booklet [...]

N900 PUSHed as a hacker’s best friend

by Dan Lane 15th September 2009

This past Sunday I was invited to London’s Southbank to take a peek at a number of arty hacks centred around the new Nokia N900 tabletyphonething. The hackers involved were from Tinker.it, a creative consultancy that seems to specialise in making physical things that represent the digital world. A lot of what they do seems [...]
