To mark the expansion of their hotspot network from 90,000 to 140,000 worldwide hotspots (including 3,600 BT Openzone hotspots in the UK and Ireland) Trustive has generously agreed to offer our readers (that’s you, yes you) some pre-paid WiFi accounts as prizes for 4 lucky people…

To enter the competition to win one of these prepaid accounts all you have to do is tell us why you need a free prepaid account from Trustive. You can enter either by commenting on this post or by tweeting us via @ReallyMobile. Get thinking!

  • 1st prize - Trustive prepaid 600 account worth 50 Euros
  • 3 runner-up prizes - Trustive prepaid 150 accounts worth 15 Euros each

The competition closes at midnight (UK time) on Wednesday, 12th May. Winners will be drawn at random on 13th May 2010.

All about Trustive

Trustive is one of the world’s largest networks of WiFi hotspots, providing access to 140,000 hotspots in 70 countries worldwide. A Trustive account simplifies WiFi access by avoiding the need to sign up and give your credit card details to different providers in each country. The Trustive service can be used from any WiFi-enabled device that has a web browser. Trustive also offers free software to simplify WiFi access on many mobile platforms – Windows, Mac, iPhone, iPod Touch and Google Phone (Android). Trustive helps customers stay connected when travelling cheaper and faster than 3G data. Access is simple via a single click - single username and password plus free WiFi software that automates the log in process. Trustive customers are free to make calls, use IM services, stay connected via Facebook, Twitter, email, surf and share multimedia information as much as they want.

Competition details and rules

  1. Prepaid 600 account includes 600 minutes WiFi access at any Trustive WiFi hotspot and is valid for 6 months from first use.
  2. Prepaid 150 account includes 150 minutes WiFi access at any Trustive WiFi hotspot and is valid for 1 month from first use.
  3. The winners will be notified by The Really Mobile Project team and asked to provide an email address for Trustive. Trustive will then contact the winners direct.
  4. Winners must agree to Trustive’s customer agreement before the account can be activated and provide Trustive with their name and address. To confirm identity, a proof of name and address, e.g. a copy of driving license or similar, will be required.
  5. Enter as many times as you like, but each of your entries must be different.
  6. Entry is open to readers from any country.

    Interesting stat: AT&T’s WiFi hotspot network has seen mobile device (smartphone) sessions increase five-fold over the past year or so. Smartphones now account for 60-70 percent of total sessions.

    In the UK, BT Openzone is showing the same kind of usage profile with smartphones (I guess soon lots of iPads, too) now accounting for something like three to four times the number of sessions per month as laptops.

    And finally, WiFi gives, essentially, a “4G-like” user-experience on a smartphone today.
